Goals in the NOM
To investigate the cognitive, neural, and bodily mechanisms underlying self-consciousness and altered states of consciousness, with a particular focus on meditation, non-dual awareness, and clinically relevant experiences of the self.
Education
PhD in Neuroscience, Sorbonne University. Dual research-industry doctoral program conducted at the Paris Brain Institute, with a focus on digital health and neurotechnology.
MSc in Neuroscience, Sorbonne University.
Experience
Idil’s research aims to bridge the gap between contemplative neuroscience and clinical therapeutic applications, drawing on approaches from cognitive neuroscience and neuroengineering.
Idil is particularly interested in exploring variations and modulations of the self, both during non-dual awareness in long-term meditators and in the context of clinical disruptions of self-consciousness. To investigate these phenomena, she combines EEG with physiological measures, with a particular focus on brain-body dynamics and the continuous bidirectional communication between the brain and the body.
